Position Overview:

The Vice President (VP) of Engineering will lead several of our client's growing engineering departments. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will oversee the strategic direction and operational excellence. This role requires a strong people leader who can drive innovation, build scalable systems, and foster an agile development culture. The VP of Engineering will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impactful, data-driven solutions that fuel our client’s growth and maintain its reputation for technical excellence.

RESPONSIBLITIES

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

Develop and execute an engineering strategy aligned with business objectives, ensuring scalability, innovation, and operational efficiency.

Partner with the executive team to develop long-term engineering goals, operational budgets, and resource allocation plans.

Drive technical vision and direction, ensuring our client remains at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Drive AI strategies to unlock future growth opportunities.

Represent the engineering team in executive and cross-functional leadership meetings, advocating for resources and driving alignment on company priorities.

Engineering Operations & Execution:

Oversee the delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions, ensuring the effective execution of product roadmaps in collaboration with Product, Sales, Business Development, Customer Success, and Support teams.

Establish and track engineering KPIs to measure performance, system reliability, and team productivity, using insights to drive continuous improvement.

Lead client’s AI, Data Science and platform strategies to support growth, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.

Oversee vendor relationships in partnership with IT, ensuring optimal contracts for tools, software, platforms, and services critical to engineering operations.

People & Culture:

Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of engineers, cultivating a collaborative, diverse, inclusive, and innovative culture.

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

Leadership & Management:

10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 8+ years in leadership roles with increasing responsibility within software development or technical operations.

Proven success managing engineering organizations of 15+ team members in a remote or distributed environment.

5+ years of experience leading and directing strategy for teams of data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers.

Proven ability to lead an agile transformation, fostering an operating model that improves employee engagement, decision-making, and customer satisfaction.

Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, delivering impactful results through alignment with stakeholders.

Proven track record of balancing strategic vision with operational execution, delivering on short-term goals while preparing for future growth.

Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Travel for team retreats, leadership meetings, and annual company-wide events

Technical Expertise:

AdTech experience. (BONUS)

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.) and modern engineering tools and practices.

Deep understanding of privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and security best practices, ensuring compliance across all systems.

Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, and scaling of intricate technical systems, encompassing backend infrastructure, frontend platforms, and cloud infrastructure management.

Proven experience in managing a data science organization, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of AI/data science methodologies.

MUST TO HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

Leadership & Management:

Experience with financial oversight, including developing and managing multi-million-dollar budgets.

Successful leadership of engineering teams transitioning from Proof of Concept to Production multiple times.

Experience working in a small to medium-sized business, where company culture, change, and inspiration come from leadership and peers.

Leading an inclusive, innovative culture that supports employee development and long-term retention.

Technical Experience:

Experience managing a data science and data engineering organization(s) and an understanding of AI/data science methodologies, including deep learning, recommendation systems, and MLOps.

Expertise with DataOps and large-scale data processing.

Experience with consumer-facing products.

Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
