Job Description

The Marketing & Event Coordinator works closely with the Chamber team to promote and market membership and tourism in the Watkins Glen Area and increase the overall awareness of the Explore Watkins Glen brand. This position is responsible for engaging with our new and existing members. This includes proactive outreach based on the membership retention and onboarding strategies, routine follow up, meeting with members, and assisting with overall Chamber tourism and marketing initiatives.

Social Media Management

•\tDevelop all social media posts and execute across all platforms to grow audience comments, and share assets and info with viewers.

•\tContribute to marketing strategy by leveraging social media to identify and acquire new visitors and engage with current visitors.

•\tObtain market share by developing social media calendar and programs with measurable results.

•\tMaintain online relations with customers, both visitors and WGACC partners.

•\tWork with Chamber marketing team on paid social media campaigns.

•\tDevelop approach for social media enhancement by acquiring and analyzing data, and consulting with internal and external sources.

•\tCreate copy and content for web-site marketing and media material.

•\tCreating posts and executing promotional campaigns on social media (Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.) to grow audience and enhance awareness of our brand online.

Event Coordination

•\tManage the Gala, Awards Program, Leadership Schuyler, Shop Schuyler, and educational programming as applicable on behalf of the Chamber.

•\tManage ribbon cuttings and ground breaking ceremonies on behalf of the Chamber.

•\tEvent Planning responsibilities include:

o\tManage budget to include projected income/expense for each event.

o\tPromote, prospect and close sponsorship opportunities for chamber programming and events.

o\tResponsible for set-up, coordination and execution of events.

o\tWork with venues, vendors, and committee members to ensure successful execution of chamber programming.

o\tWork with Marketing & Communications Director to maximize promotion and marketing activities to drive attendance goals.

Marketing

•\tEngage with partners and other stakeholders to promote the benefits of Chamber membership.

•\tMonitor and report on the success of web-site engagement, media and marketing strategies.

•\tAssist with executing a marketing plan that will engage existing and potential members to determine satisfaction of current service delivery, identify future needs and increase membership, advertising revenue and participating in Chamber activities.

•\tManage retention efforts of members by ensuring opportunities for engagement, cultivating relationships, and communicating membership value on a regular basis.

•\tCultivate and support an engaged group of volunteers to expand capacity of the chamber, with particular focus on event management and generation of sponsorships.

•\tManage all elements of Business & Education, and applicable Events committees as assigned.

•\tOther duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience required.

•\tDemonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in engagement, marketing and communication

•\tHigh level of written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated capacity to communicate with a wide range of Chamber members

•\tExperience in web-site, digital marketing and social media management

•\tSkilled in all office suite applications, experienced in email platforms and the ability to learn new software applications relevant to the position

•\tStrong problem solver; shows initiative and is a team player

•\tPositive, diplomatic, professional attitude

•\tKnowledge/ familiarity of the Finger Lakes area and specifically Schuyler County

•\tMust have valid driver's license

•\tEnjoys a fast-paced work environment and can effectively manage time to complete projects with deadlines

•\tBe a self-starter and have the ability to work independently

•\tAbility to work a flexible schedule to attend evening/night time events on a regular weekly (or more) basis, as neededCompany Description
