Occupancy Internship Opportunity

Hourly Pay: $18 20 - 30 Hours/Week

The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) is committed to creating quality housing choices, fostering sustainable communities, and helping residents thrive. We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Occupancy Intern to support our Occupancy Department. This paid internship offers valuable hands-on experience for students pursuing careers in human services, housing, or public administration.

About the Role

This is a part-time internship with flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments. The intern will work closely with Intake Assistants to support the eligibility and intake processes for housing applicants.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in processing documents for eligibility determination

Support intake assistants during applicant screening

Update and maintain application records

Help communicate with applicants regarding required documents and status updates

Interact with third-party organizations to conduct verifications

Enter data accurately and prepare housing intake packages

Perform general administrative duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Comfortable working with diverse populations and handling sensitive information

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, talk, see, and hear frequently

Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds

Visual acuity including depth, color, and texture perception
