position purpose:
The Host must act as personal representation of the service and overall hospitality of the restaurant portrayed through excellent customer service and professional demeanor.
Greet guests upon arrival and inform them of their reservation status
Organize and abide by a system to seat guests in an appropriate time frame
Monitor the guest reservation list
Ensure the needs of guests are met while they wait for their tables
Manage and keep track of which tables are available for new guests
Ensure each server has an adequate amount of tables in their section
Escort guests to their designated table and inform them of their server name
Provide menus
Intuit server ability and personalized needs in regards to volumes of tables
Assist with moving tables and organizing areas for larger parties
Tally meal period guest count
Assist in refilling water, polishing glass and other essential duties throughout shift
Assist servers and bar staff, as needed
Attend all mandatory trainings and meetings
Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to proper dress policy, as defined in the IOA handbook
Follow guidelines and expectations as stated in the employee handbook
Report all issues in the dining area to restaurant management team
Requirements
qualifications:
Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task effectively
Ability to work while standing for long periods of time
Ability to maintain neat, professional and clean appearance and practices
Ability to work while standing for long periods of time
Ability to work in a team environment with servers, bartenders, chefs, and other Inns of Aurora employees
Ability to adhere to proper food regulation standard and health and safety standards
Ability to maintain calm and collected demeanor under stressful and fast-paced working conditions
Flexibility with guest needs and hourly schedules
High school or college degree
Previous host experience or fine-dining host experience
Knowledge and understanding of workplace safety procedures
General wine, food and fine-dining knowledge
