Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Law Enforcement Specialist Instructor responsible for law enforcement and security-related materials or practices that encompass constantly evolving changes to assessment, inspection, compliance, or investigative matters, including specialty areas such as incident management, weapons of mass destruction, and tactical and canine emergency medicine.
Duties performed:
Coordinates training curriculum and logistics schedules.
Develops techniques or procedures that capture information and or statistics on the training received in order to ensure the coursework achieves established program goals.
Resolves challenges and responds to inquiries regarding the coursework or law enforcement techniques that may result in setting a precedent or amending current FPS training instructions.
Collaborate with regional training coordinators and regional leadership in the formulation and development of FPS' training program objectives; and recommends to senior management the need to make amendments to or elimination of procedures, tactics, regulations and instructions in order to improve the training program efficiency and effectiveness.
Develops curriculums incorporating basic to advanced training course material to include adapting or creating newly emerging or rapidly changing technical areas of law enforcement.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
GS-13: Applicant must demonstrate at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Preparing law enforcement training curriculums to support application of investigative techniques, practices and/or compliance mandates;
Reviewing program training methods to recommend improvements to senior officials; and
Collaborating with lead trainers maintain proficient law enforcement training programs. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
Law Enforcement: The incumbent may possess law enforcement authority under Title 40 of the United States Code, Section 13 J 5, exercising such authority to provide investigative and law enforcement services to customer agencies, Federal employees and members of the general public located and/or conducting business in government.
Pre-employment Drug Testing: This position requires a negative pre-employment drug test prior to and throughout the appointment of this position.
Random Drug Testing: Incumbent of this position is subject to random drug testing.
Pre-employment Medical Requirement: Prior to appointment, the person selected for this position must be determined physically fit by an authorized government physician to perform strenuous and physically demanding duties. Also, must successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination (which includes, but is not limited to vision, hearing, cardiovascular and mobility of extremities) given by an authorized government physician. This position may be subject to periodic incumbent examinations in the future.
Firearms Requirement: The incumbent will be required to carry a firearm while performing duties of this position. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. The incumbent must satisfactorily complete (or have previously completed) the firearms component of the Criminal Investigation Training Program (CITP) or Uniformed Police Training program (UPTP). Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition.
Travel: The incumbent will be required to travel frequently.
Mobility Agreement: This position may require the incumbent to be reassigned to different geographic locations. Accordingly, the incumbent will be required to sign a mobility agreement, which will remain in effect throughout the duration of the assignment.
Motor Vehicle Operation: This position requires that the incumbent possess a valid driver's license, maintain a safe driving record, and demonstrate that they are medically qualified to operate a motor vehicle safely in accordance with the standards and procedures established in 5 CFR 930. Periodic verification of license and safe driving record will be required.

How You Will Be Evaluated
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
