**Job Title: Operating Engineer**

**Job Description**

As an Operating Engineer, you will assist in supervising and directing the maintenance staff on shift while monitoring their performance. This role requires performing and directing maintenance service requests with efficiency, minimizing disruption and inconvenience. You will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring all building systems, ensuring continuous operation, and performing preventive maintenance.

**Responsibilities**

+ Supervise and direct maintenance staff on shift.

+ Monitor performance of assigned responsibilities.

+ Perform and/or direct maintenance departmental service requests.

+ Check malfunctioning equipment and ascertain corrective action required.

+ Provide training and supervision to operations staff.

+ Implement the preventative maintenance program with minimal disruption.

+ Order parts and equipment required for repair and maintenance.

+ Direct the performance of contracted maintenance work.

+ Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on building systems.

+ Comply with departmental policy for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

+ Maintain an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies.

+ Oversee activities of contractors working within the building.

+ Keep records of building rounds and readings, engineering logs, and data sheets.

+ Ensure contractors are informed and knowledgeable about the building’s critical functions.

+ Understand and comply with emergency escalation procedures.

+ Ensure strict adherence to engineering guidelines, processes, and procedures.

**Essential Skills**

+ Proficiency in plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, chillers, boilers, and BAS.

+ A high school diploma or GED.

+ Four years of experience in the building maintenance industry.

+ Accredited trade school degree in HVAC, electronic, or other industry related trade.

+ Union training and certification.

+ Extensive electrical work experience and licensing.

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and maintenance instructions.

+ Mathematical skills for calculating load balancing, proportions, percentages, and volume.

+ Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.

**Work Environment**

You will join a team of 18 responsible for a 300-room hotel, parking garage maintenance, putt-putt course, and theater hall. The work environment is dynamic, with upcoming projects like breaking ground on a baseball field and stadium on campus.

**Shift**

Shift hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 3pm to 11:30pm.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
