Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to serve as the senior financial leader and controller for a premier agritourism business. This Director of Finance role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on accounting operations oversight. The ideal controller candidate will manage all aspects of accounting, finance, and HR functions across multiple entities including nonprofit operations. Our Director of Finance will work closely with senior leadership to drive accounting excellence and financial strategy.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
Current CPA certification strongly preferred for this Director of Finance position
8+ years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience in controller or senior accounting roles
High-level experience with financial reporting, forecasting, and budget management in accounting environments
Proficiency in financial/accounting systems and software, plus point of sale systems
Demonstrated ability to manage and develop accounting staff effectively
Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for controller responsibilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to present financial results to owners/board of directors
Experience with multiple entity financial statement consolidation and complex accounting structures
Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check
Legal authorization to work in the USA
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Prior experience with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and specialized accounting requirements
Previous experience with SAP systems in controller or Director of Finance capacity
Background in agritourism, hospitality, or entertainment industries with complex accounting needs
Advanced controller experience with multi-entity consolidations
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute financial strategy for multiple business entities as Director of Finance
Oversee all accounting operations, budgeting, and financial reporting in controller capacity
Lead the accounting department and ensure accurate, timely accounting deliverables
Manage capital requests and annual budget preparation with accounting team support
Provide financial analysis and insights to senior leadership on accounting performance
Lead and develop finance and accounting team members in best practices
Oversee accounting for HR functions including payroll accounting, benefits accounting, and compensation reporting
Serve as liaison with external auditors, insurers, and lenders regarding accounting matters
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and all regulatory accounting requirements
Manage daily cash operations and forecasting with accounting staff
Monitor and direct strategic business plan implementation from controller perspective
Coordinate with accounting team on month-end and year-end closing processes
