Hourly Rate - $13.50

Essential Job Functions

Responsible for opening and checking building

Responsible for closing and securing of building and overall security of building

Responsible for general cleaning of building

Responsible for replacing light bulbs and tubes

Responsible for event setups and breakdowns

Responsible for trash removal and recycling materials

Responsible for snow removal and salting of sidewalks and entrances to building

Responsible for sweeping, mopping and scrubbing floors and other surfaces

Responsible for cleaning and dusting of furniture, exhibit cases, lockers, windows, doors, trim and related furnishings

Responsible for moving equipment while cleaning and reassembling when complete

Responsible for moving furniture as needed for cleaning

Responsible for preparing surfaces for painting; primes and paints walls, ceilings, doors, frames and trim

Responsible for vacuuming, spot cleaning and extracting carpets as necessary

Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting toilet rooms and locker rooms; restock dispensers

Responsible for turning off water valves and shut off electrical breakers as necessary

Responsible for reporting items that require repair to the Head Custodian or Building Engineer

Responsible for coordinating work with Head Custodian, Building Engineer and Principal

Responsible for guarding property against fire, floods, theft and illegal entry

Responsible for use and care of custodial cleaning equipment

Responsible for assisting vendors, inspectors and contractors

Responsible for emergency and overtime assignments

Responsible for attending seminars and in-service training

Responsible for related duties as assigned Requirements

High School Graduate. College or trade school classes preferred.

Valid driver's license

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 100 pounds including pushing and pulling items such as tables, desks and cabinets.

Ability to work from ladders and scaffolding up to 30' high

Ability to use hand tools and power tools including a cordless drill and sander

Be able to speak, read and write at a level of proficiency that permits satisfactory job performance

Be able to read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and cleaning chemical labels

Be neat in appearance

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community

Upon request, present a certificate signed by a licensed physician, appointed by the District, verifying the physical ability to perform the job

Most custodians work within a school setting and move about the building and grounds. The job requires some physical exertion; individuals in this position may be on their feet throughout the workday. The person may need to ascend/descend a ladder to analyze or repair a piece of equipment and may need to occasionally push or lift equipment, boxes, furniture, etc.. The employee will need specific vision abilities to analyze facility needs. The employee may be required to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. The employee is directly responsible for exercising safety procedures and good reasoning.
