Department Overview The laboratories at Children's Hospitals and Clinics are full service facilities that offer a complete spectrum of laboratory techniques for the evaluation of pediatric disorders.

Laboratories are located on both the Minneapolis and St.

Paul campuses and and provide services on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Disciplines include Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Virology, Serology, Blood Bank, Immunology/Flow Cytometry, Histology and Pathology.

Position Summary This position is the front line individual who provides exemplary customer service to laboratory clients, both in-person and by phone.

Provides first response to phone calls that come into the lab, greets patients and families, and maintains a safe, welcoming environment at all times, modeling service excellence.

Answers questions warmly, promptly and correctly, and solves problems as needed.

This individual is the key liaison to other departments and provides information, schedules lab appointments, scans orders/reports into electronic medical record, mails reports and supports customers.

Schedule Monday-Friday: 0800-1630 Mpls Campus No weekends and No holidays Education: * High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: * Previous experience in a healthcare setting or education in a healthcare related field preferred.

* Minimum one year customer service experience required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Possesses outstanding professional and positive customer service skills.

* Must have excellent problem solving and follow up skills.

* Demonstrates pleasant telephone voice and helpful manner.

* Experience with healthcare computer information systems.

* Solid knowledge of medical terminology.

* Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional, work independently and within a team.

* Demonstrates a forward thinking approach, continually looking for ways to improve processes, tools and resources to best serve the healthcare team and clients.

Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
