This cohort of students will begin in January 2026 with a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday course schedule meeting from 3:30-9:50 p.m. Applicants must be available to teach this schedule to be considered.Position Summary

MCC seeks additional adjunct instructors to lead a year-long cohort of Paramedic students. MCC instructors are higher-education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students, applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies in instruction. They assess student learning to ensure students success, staying abreast of trends in the discipline. Our instructors collaborate within the College as discipline experts, helping the College reach its strategic goals through active participation in college committees and by promoting the College to future students throughout our community. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Provide instruction in the Prehospital Emergency Care (Paramedic) program offered through McHenry County College under the oversight of the McHenry Western Lake County EMS System, for the purpose of eligibility for initial licensure, continuing education, and professional growth in accordance with IDPH Rules and Regulations and the National EMS Education Standards

Teach courses as assigned by the College

Available to teach daytime, evening, or weekend classes, as needed

Available for student conferences either before or after class, and by College email if necessary

Develop syllabus using MCC syllabus template

Work cooperatively within the department, the division, and throughout the College in striving for educational excellence

Conduct regular assessment of student learning

Effective use of educational technology (i.e. Canvas, Platinum Planner, etc.)

Maintain and submit accurate student and course-related paperwork and data needed for College purposes in a timely fashion

Document and report attendance daily and maintain and submit accurate attendance records weekly

Submit grade reports electronically by the required date

Utilize a variety of pedagogical techniques to meet the diverse needs of our student population

Collaborate with college leadership and the EMS System coordinator to prepare documentation for the hospital system and accreditation agencies

Additional duties as assignedRequired Qualifications

Associate degree in EMS, Fire Science, Nursing, or a related field

5 years/10,000 hours of ED/EMS related work experience

Current Illinois or National licensure as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse (RN)

IDPH recognition as an EMS Lead Instructor

Ability to obtain current EMS System Protocol Competency

Experience teaching EMS courses

Demonstrated commitment to professional growth, especially regarding contemporary expertise specific to assigned teaching content

Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds

Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
