Job Description

Description

The Systems Architect is a member of the Systems Planning and Engineering team reporting to the office of the CTO.

The Systems Architect is responsible for three key areas:

1. Establishment of Systems Architectural Standards relating to efficiency, security, and risk management as well as the documentation of systems within this architecture. These standards are to ensure that current and new systems meet or exceed requirements, reduce duplicity in tools and solutions offered, and to ensure RCHHC is getting the most value out of currently deployed systems

2. Lifecycle management of all systems and infrastructure under the Systems Architect\'s domain, and

3. Training of junior engineers on systems and architectures as well as be an escalation point for troubleshooting problems within the Systems Architects domain. Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of RCH-SD needs.

More information:

- Figure out current environment and the way things are built out

- Work with vendor and server/ network teams to fill out and complete the Solution’s Design document (Architect document) then turn it into a punch list of work that needs to get done by the different teams and turn it over to a project manager so they in return can turn it into a timeline and communicate the work that needs to get done.

- Pull in vendor information, information from currently what they have deployed in their environment and the old environment (what it was – legacy/data center network) put it on their green field data center network – has a completely different way)

- Example: Deploying new stuff on a juniper network, upgrading from server 2012 to server 2019 – that will require compute), Nutanix – hyper convert infrastructure, Esxi – from a virtualization layer – where are they going to deploy this will dictate what type of virtualization software they will use), what ports and protocols does it go over? What user groups are on the different sides to make sure they connect properly?

- They whole system – from the client side all the way back to the server and how that round trip communication works. Need to be able to

- Take what they have, what they are trying to deprecate, what they are trying to move to = then take all of those items and put it into a punch list of work that needs to be done

- Example first deploy server, 2nd create network connections, 3rd build active directory groups in a structure way within the Solutions Design Document.

- Example: They are buying a new blood gas analyzer to be deployed in the hospital – who is the manufacturer of it? BD – need to go talk to BD and ask them questions – what are the requirements of their system? What is the data flow of their solution? How does the data get from the blood gas analyzer back to the server? Now that it is on the server how do I get it to the electronic medical record? Now I need to go talk to the interface team – this gets connected up through an interface to get the information into the EMR…etc.

- Need to do analysis and figure out how tools will be incorporated into their environment

- Take a generic document and turn it into a specific document that is required for RCHSD environment/solution

o Talking to vendors to get clarification around the system that you are trying to bring in and onboard

o Talking to the RCHSD team and hearing their requirements, what do they want to see from the system?
