**This position has the option to underfill at the Laboratory Analyst level.
Join our progressive, award-winning team as a Senior Laboratory Analyst! In this role, you will perform advanced instrumental analysis and complex chemical analyses while overseeing two key areas of the laboratory. Wastewater services are important because they protect water quality, safeguard public health and support future development in the community.
The Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant (SWTP) Facility, in accordance with the Clean Water Act, is governed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and locally by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MODNR) through the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program to ensure a high quality of water being discharged into the Ozarks waterways. The plant is designed to produce an effluent which can be discharged into Wilson's Creek without having any negative environmental impact on the river water quality. Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
Senior Lab Analyst:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related area; AND
2-3 years of water/wastewater laboratory experience.
A Master's Degree may be substituted for one year of experience.
Experience must include chemical instrumentation and analytical procedures along with the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment comparable to: pH meter, dissolved oxygen meter, ammonia meter, chemical oxygen demand analyzer, spectrophotometer (ultra-violet visible), analytical balance, and total organic carbon analyzer. PREFERRED
Experience in the use of ion chromatography analysis, flow injection analysis, flash point analyzer, inductively coupled plasma spectrophotometer, gas chromatography spectrophotometer, and experience with a microscope. Licensing/Certification
Must obtain within 1 year and maintain a minimum of a Class D MWEA certification as a Laboratory Analyst;
Must obtain within six months and maintain Class D Missouri DNR Wastewater Treatment license;
Must possess a valid Driver's License. Lab Analyst:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related area; AND
One year of responsible laboratory experience;
A Master's Degree may be substituted for the year of experience;
Experience must include chemical instrumentation and analytical procedures along with the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment comparable to: PH meter, dissolved oxygen meter, specific ion meter, spectrophotometer (ultra-violet visible), analytical balance, and total organic carbon analyzer; PREFERRED
Experience in the use of atomic absorption spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, and microscope. Licensing/Certification
Must be eligible to receive state or federal certification as a Laboratory Analyst, if applicable;
Must possess a valid Driver's License.
