Accountants One has been retained by a prominent and well-established construction firm in Atlanta to identify a 401(k) and Payroll Compliance Manager to join their team as an individual contributor.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in 401(k) and payroll compliance, a Bachelor's degree in accounting, and GL/month-end close experience.
This position is based in the office in the Vinings area. Key Responsibilities:
Administer and oversee daily 401(K) operations and ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations
Coordinate timely contributions and manage audits and Form 5500 filings with third-party vendors
Process payroll accurately across multiple states using ADP Workforce Now or equivalent
Ensure payroll compliance with federal/state laws, wage/hour rules, and tax reporting
Partner with HR to validate employee data and assist with onboarding/enrollment for payroll and 401(K)
Support audits and resolve compliance issues and agency notices promptly
Monitor legislative updates and adjust internal practices as needed
Perform payroll bank reconciliations and improve compliance processes
Configure and maintain pay codes, earnings, and deductions within ADP
Reconcile and validate ADP payroll registers, tax filings, and general ledger integrations
Utilize ADP reporting tools to generate custom payroll, tax, and benefit reports Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of experience in 401(K) administration and payroll compliance
Extensive experience with ADP Workforce Now, including system configuration, reporting, and compliance tracking
Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS, DOL regulations, and payroll tax compliance
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of employee information
Ability to research, understand, and apply federal, state, and local regulations
