POSITION SUMMARY:
The Product Developer is responsible for the development of products within assigned product categories, related to company initiatives in coordination with merchandising & design teams to create product line(s). This role ensures the delivery of industry leading products and programs and maintain/guide all appropriate product development procedures and processes throughout design, sourcing, and development process. The Product Developer will manage/assist the development of all category products within established timelines and perform as an owner of the product development process (calendar and milestone management), including new constructions, treatments, and product development/design techniques. The Manager, Product Development role is critical in the definition of, and communication of, product quality and performance characteristics to vendors, sourcing, and external quality partners.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage and lead the development of products focusing on critical development calendar milestones, product construction, material applications and product quality
Strategically partner with sourcing and overseas factories to deliver distinct, good, better, best, and premium product construction options
Ensure conformance to all product development specifications as established by design, development, sales, and merchandising teams
Plan/organize all teams and resources to achieve product development goals
Lead the initiative for category and process product management
Maintain clear communication channels (written and verbal) with Asian development staff to ensure concise understanding of product requirements
Commercialization (packaging, fit, etc ) of all developments to buy ready status
Support Global Sourcing in the development of vendor options for product categories
Maintain communication with graphic design team on all styles/packaging
Analyze and report on data from Microsoft D365
Communicate inline & private label product development via tracking reports for sales/merchandising teams/management teams Required Skills:
Hybrid role: In office 2-3 times per week as needed
Minimum of 3-4 years of Product Development experience
Minimum 3 to 4 years work experience within consumer-packaged goods, sporting hard goods, soft goods/accessories, or apparel product development/management
High intermediate demonstrated skill with Microsoft Excel regarding spreadsheet report generation and analysis; Adobe Illustrator capable; Intermediate level skill set with other Microsoft Office products and applications
Proven experience in analyzing / presenting product design/development and cost benefit results (both written and oral)
Reading / Interpreting / Editing: tech packs, CADs, designs
Professional correspondence via email, phone, and letter
College level mathematics capability including percentages
Oral and written communications and presentation ability
Excellent organizational skills and ability to comply with established documentation rules Desired Skills and Experience:
A working knowledge of woven/knit materials
A working knowledge of plastic injection processes and metal forming Education and Certifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a related field of study or related experience
