Job Summary:
The LIS/EMR Analyst/Specialist will drive connectivity solutions and interfaces between Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and Lab Information Systems (LIS) in addition to handling initial communication with vendors and the customers. The LIS/EMR Analyst/Specialist will also steer the planning, design, testing, documentation, and implementation of order and result transmissions from our LIS systems to and from various EMR/EHR platforms to ensure smooth transitions for new projects.
The individual is expected to be a motivated and committed healthcare IT professional with demonstrable organizational, and decision-making skills which would be key for the role of an LIS/EMR Analyst/Specialist The individual is expected to have a professional phone etiquette to answer client calls to educate, resolve issues, and/or communicate required information to clients while maintaining high levels of satisfaction. A positive attitude is a must in this fast paced, deadline driven Pathology Laboratory environment.
Essential Job Duties:
· Initiate job requests for new HL7 orders and results interfaces.
· Manage project approvals
· Coordinate between LIS, EMR/EHR and other third-party vendors within an adequate project timeline of completion.
· Communicate effectively with clients when project questions arise.
Facilitate and develop relationships between our lab and various EMR/EHR vendors such as Allscripts, Athena, e-Clinical Works, EMD’s, Greenway, NextGen and DigiChart
Serve as a liaison and troubleshoot issues between our lab, client physician offices and LIS and EMR/EHR vendors.
· Coordinate workflow protocols with internal lab departments that will have responsibility and/or knowledge of workflow or tasks pertinent to projects.
Build initial documentation for new clients to PathAdvantage
Maintain LIS systems for data accuracy and assign interface flow information.
Maintain the test compendium and communicate changes to EMR/EHR vendors.
· Create/maintain shared folders for department documentation and record keeping.

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
· Familiar with laboratory billing and CPT coding. (Preferred)
· HL7 v2, including ADT, ORM, ORU, and DFT messaging, 2 years (Preferred)
· Exposure to various LIS and EMR/EHR platforms, 1 year (Preferred)
Education/Training/Experience:
Background in Information Technology, Information Systems or Informatics OR equivalent work experience.
2+ years of experience with HL7 v2, including ADT, ORM, ORU, and DFT messaging.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Demonstrate knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and HIPAA requirements.
