JOB PURPOSE
Sustainability Manager is responsible for ensuring that the biofuel desk is compliant with its sustainability obligations. This role involves managing the Mass Balance, performing validation checks on sustainability documents, planning stock movements, and liaising with Operations to ensure vessel movements are tracked. Jobholder will also manage relationships with external counterparties, monitor sustainability positions, and deliver reporting of forward positions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the biofuel desk adheres to all sustainability obligations
Keep the biofuels team informed about updates and changes in regulations, such as the European Red Directive, ISCC, or other relevant national laws
Implement legislative changes in the management of mass balances
Verify the sustainability characteristics of incoming and outgoing products, including supplier certification, delivery notes, inspection reports, mass balance data entry, and GHG emissions checks
Validate incoming and outgoing sustainability documents to ensure compliance with relevant schemes
Ensure timely delivery of certificates and sustainability statements to the relevant authorities
Ensure timely delivery of sustainability documentation for all executed trades
Verify that all received certificates meet ISCC standards and contractual terms
Coordinate stock moves with Operations to maintain balanced Mass Balance at quarter-end
Manage the Mass Balance spreadsheet and ensure full verification for each quarter close
Ensure the team’s management of mass balances complies with ISCC rules and verify that quarterly closings are accurate
Ensure that certificate allocations and optimizations in mass balances comply with the specific regulations of each receiving country
Maintain communication with Operations to track and understand vessel movements
Create and share stock move schemes and large vessel movements
Monitor sustainability positions and provide forward position reports and delivery note tracking to the wider desk
Collaborate with the IT team to develop internal tools for the sustainability department, ensuring data entry traceability, optimizing mass balances
Address queries from Operations and follow up on additional information as needed
Manage relationships with external counterparties, ensuring timely delivery of sustainability documents and monitoring company certifications
Enhance communication efficiency within the desk and with external consultants
Collaborate with external consultants to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits and provide necessary information and reports
Support external consultants in obtaining required documentation
Conduct and document monthly internal audits to ensure compliance with RED legislation and ISCC rules
Coordinate the annual ISCC certification audits
Organize and conduct internal sustainability training sessions for new team members
Carry out any other reasonable and lawful request directed by the Management
Maintain and ensure confidentiality at all times
Represent the company in a positive and professional manner
Adhere to the company’s rules, regulations, procedures and policies at all times
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, BEHAVIOURS)
Education
Bachelor’s degree Applied Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or relevant field
Professional Certification is an advantage
Experience
5 years in sustainability management, preferably in biofuel
2 years in managing sustainability documentation & certification and external audits in relevant field
Knowledge
Comprehensive in sustainability regulations & ISCC Scheme
Advanced in data management & reporting
