This job involves coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practices across the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs, adhering to the mission, vision, and values of SSMC. The role requires providing age-appropriate care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice and upholding the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.

Unit-Specific Job Roles

Care and assessment of patients in sepsis and septic shock, including complication prevention.

Implementation of the sepsis pathway and knowledge of noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring and ventilation.

Knowledge of medication indications, contraindications, effects, and side effects.

Management of deteriorating patients and prevention of complications.

Prevention of CLABSI and CAUTI, with compliance to bundles.

Monitoring patient symptoms, changes, and sharing information with physicians.

Administering IV fluids and medications as per physician orders.

Monitoring fluid intake/output and detecting imbalances.

Monitoring all aspects of patient care, including diet and activity.

Responsibilities

Assessment and diagnosis based on comprehensive data collection and analysis.

Planning and outcome identification involving patient, family, and healthcare team.

Implementation and coordination of care, including treatments and documentation.

Health teaching and promotion tailored to patient needs.

Evaluation of patient progress and response, with ongoing adjustments to care plans.

Integration of evidence-based practice and participation in research activities.

Demonstration of leadership, supervision, and participation in organizational decision-making.

Adherence to professional ethics, patient advocacy, safety practices, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2 years post-qualification in a relevant setting (waived for UAE nursing college graduates after internship).

Educational: Bachelor’s in Nursing or a 2-year Nursing Degree with registration and valid license from recognized countries, plus BLS. ACLS and PALS are preferred.
