ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are currently looking for Pipefitters with experience with gas lines.

In the context of Texas gas lines, a pipefitter's job involvesinstalling, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that transport natural gas.They work with various materials like steel and copper, ensuring safe and efficient gas delivery to homes and businesses.

Job Summary

Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing natural gas pipelines and related equipment.They must be able to read blueprints, follow safety regulations, and work with various tools and materials to ensure safe and efficient gas delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

Laying out, assembling, and installing gas pipes, valves, fittings, and other components according to blueprints and specifications.

Inspecting, testing, and repairing gas pipelines and related equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.

Interpreting blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings to understand job requirements.

Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures related to gas handling and pipeline work.

Using various hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to cut, thread, and join pipes and fittings.

Identifying and resolving problems with gas leaks, pressure issues, or other malfunctions.

Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders

Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, or related equipment, according to blueprints

Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints.

Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading

Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.

Secures pipe to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools

Perform daily maintenance and safety checks

Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting companys safety culture

Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Knowledge, Education, Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of pipe fitting principles, gas safety regulations, and relevant building codes.

Ability to measure, calculate, and perform accurate calculations for pipe sizing, fitting, and installation.

Ability to work with tools and equipment, understand mechanical systems, and troubleshoot problems.

Ability to lift, carry, and work with heavy pipes and equipment.

Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to gas handling and pipeline work.

Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, other tradespeople, and clients.

Education, Training and Experience

High School Diploma or GED required

Minimum 2 years experience as a pipefitter

NCCER for pipefitter

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Must be work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements, heat/cold temperatures, wind, rain, blowing dust.

Able to work around moving equipment and tolerate loud noise levels.

Ability to perform intense manual labor.

Bend and stoop repeatedly throughout the day.

Able to push, pull and lift 50+lbs.

Able to walk and stand for long periods of time.

Able to walk on rough, rocky and uneven surfaces at construction sites.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical screening. If applicable to the contract, you may also be required to submit through a background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work and must have a valid driver's licenseat time of application.
