Job Description
The Automation Technician will be a key contributor to the performance, safety, and efficiency of our state-of-the-art manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in industrial automation systems and be a hands-on, proactive problem solver, capable of maintaining complex equipment and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on a wide array of industrial equipment, including:
Stamping presses (mechanical, hydraulic, servo)
Robotic systems (FANUC, KUKA, ABB)
PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
HMI/SCADA systems, conveyors, and sensors
Diagnose and repair faults in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
Troubleshoot, modify, and program PLCs to optimize performance and resolve issues.
Operate and calibrate robotic systems, including adjustments via teach pendants.
Assist in die setting and press setup to ensure proper alignment and quality.
Maintain press components such as brakes, clutches, lubrication systems, and coil handling equipment.
Install, calibrate, and commission new automation and stamping equipment.
Log work and manage parts inventory via a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams on reliability and efficiency initiatives.
Ensure compliance with all safety standards, especially LOTO procedures.
Support and participate in continuous improvement and equipment upgrade projects.
Perform machining, welding, or fabrication work when necessary.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or GED required.Technical training or certification in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electronic or Automation preferred.
At least 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and robotic systems.
Solid understanding of stamping press operation and maintenance or ability to learn.
Experience reading and interpreting technical schematics and diagrams.
Strong understanding of motor controls, VFDs, servo drives, and automation networks.
Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team.
Strong safety mindset with knowledge of OSHA standards and procedures.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Preferred:
Advanced PLC programming skills.
Experience with vision systems and sensor networks.
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet).
Welding and metal fabrication experience.
Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques and condition monitoring tools.
Exposure to advanced stamping press control systems.
