Northwoods Credit Union, of Cloquet, MN is seeking an experienced candidate to fill the position of Member Solutions Specialist (Collector) based out of our Moose Lake location. This full time, nonexempt position offers a typical schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday with potential eligibility to work from home, a comprehensive benefits package, and a starting hourly pay range between $17.20 - $19.11, based on experience. This position is eligible for incentive pay based on performance.

Qualified candidates will be equipped with the skills required to perform the effective and lawful collection of past-due loans, credit card balances, and negative share delinquencies within the credit union. This role plays a critical part in minimizing financial risk while preserving positive member relationships through respectful, compassionate, and solution-oriented communication. Ideal candidates will possess strong negotiation skills and use them to resolve delinquencies in a professional, fair, and compliant manner, while striving to support the credit union's financial health and member service standards.

Founded in 1936 in a small trailer on paper mill property, Northwoods Credit Union began with five paper mill employees who had a vision of offering fairly priced financial products and excellent service to their hardworking coworkers. Position Duties and Responsibilities

Uphold the credit union's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Contact members with delinquent loans and work closely with them to develop tailored repayment strategies aimed at resolving their delinquency.

Contact members with negative shares and work closely with them to bring them to a positive balance.

Utilize empathy and impartiality when engaging with past due members, by withholding judgement and ensuring that individuals are treated with respect and without bias, regardless of their financial history or previous challenges.

Manage accounts that may require escalation to collateral repossession, foreclosure, or small claims proceedings, ensuring all actions comply with legal and organizational guidelines.

Process Bankruptcy, Levies and Garnishments received.

Document clear and concise summaries of all member contact.

Utilize resources available to recover charge offs.

Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, company policies and procedures at all times.

Perform other delegated duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of two years of experience in collections preferred but not required.

Valid Driver's License required

Required Skills

Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in relation to lending and collections practices and functions.

Excellent Verbal and written communication skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills

Must be able to manage confidential information professionally and comply with confidential record keeping requirements.

Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and other commonly used office software.

Position requires the ability to work flexible hours on occasion and travel between Credit Union facilities, member properties, recovery sites, and other locations as needed.
