Job Description
Specific Responsibilities and skills for Position
The Sr./ Manager and field-based for Oncology is a Medical Affairs position whose mission is to foster collaborative relationships with scientific leaders and to facilitate the exchange of unbiased scientific information between the medical community and the company.
This position will focus on Oncology and breast cancer. Serves as field medical expert on this therapeutic area.
Execute and implement of medical strategies, tactics, and initiatives at local and provide support to the region on a need basis
Collaborate with Oncology Medical Lead and Country Medical Director for local advisory board meetings, scientific education programs, patient engagement/centricity program and digital initiatives in Taiwan
Provide scientific support at local, regional, and international congresses as well as post-congress workshop/training
Communicate medical narratives and insight gathering plan in responsible accounts/territory and exchange at field matrix meetings
Establish and maintain on-ongoing professional and scientific relationship with opinion leaders and societies in Oncology and breast cancer areas in Taiwan
Utilizes scientific resources for impactful presentations in a variety of different settings
Responds to clinical inquiries (including managed access programs) regarding marketed or developmental Gilead products
Works collaboratively with Medical Affairs counterparts across Asia and locally across multiple functional areas, including Commercial, Marketing, Clinical Research and Operations, Pharmacovigilance and Epidemiology, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Regulatory, and Legal/Compliance
Continually monitor the disease state environment to sustain expertise in disease state management and new therapies, competitive intelligence, and features
Support identification of data gaps. Bridge communication between investigators and global team in data generation including the development of phase 4 studies, real world evidence, and publication plan
Travels to internal trainings, HCP appointments, meetings, and scientific conferences on a regular basis, occasionally with short notice
Essential Duties and Job Functions
Work with Oncology Medical Lead, Country Medical Director and Oncology medical counterparts in the affiliate/region/global on early development of a variety of projects, he/she provides independent thought and drive in the further development of specific projects and ensuing presentations and reports
75% of field interaction, insights collection and scientific communication with identified external key stakeholders including medical societies chairperson, committee members, opinion leaders, consultants, epidemiology experts, foundation/NGO chairperson and PAG leaders
Collaborate with Oncology Medical Lead and Country Medical Director for consolidated medical activities including advisory board programs, scientific communication, medical education, congress symposia support, policy forum, data generation and dissemination, patient engagement and digital initiatives
Attends local major conferences and helps coordinate medical affairs activities at conferences and post-congress training/workshop
Present to HCPs on a regular basis
Attend and exchange insights at regular field matrix meetings
Must be fully cognizant of all relevant and the most updated scientific data
Must be cognizant of regulatory and compliance requirements for field-based personnel
Must be committed to continuing education to maintain knowledge base
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will be an MD, PharmD, PhD or MS with relevant training or professional background (preferable)
2 years of pharma industry experience and track record in Medical Affairs and Oncology (must)
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical skills, demonstrated ability to identify and understand complex issues and problems and identify and query key findings from study data and publications
Able to think outside the box, work with a level of autonomy and independence
Must have demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Travel 15% regionally and internationally which will include occasional weekend travel
Fluent in written and spoken English (must)
