Overview
The Game Presentation Intern will assist with live entertainment and promotional elements during Blue Jackets home games. They will take direction from the Event Presentation Manager and Event Presentation Coordinator on many of the following items: managing the Promotion Teams; meeting with and conducting run-throughs with live entertainment (anthem singers, color guards, bands, etc.); cueing timeout and intermission activities and special recognitions and ceremonies; ensuring that all items needed for the game are prepped; maintaining an open line of communication during the game.
Duties and tasks:
Non-Game Day duties
Review production script with Game Ops staff
Prepare detailed promotional scripts and diagrams for the CBJ Promo Teams
Assist with the Military Honoree Program
Assist with Promo Team content creation (TikToks, Instagram Reels, etc.)
Game Day Duties
Pregame
Prepare Promo Team game-night necessities and work spaces
Assist with/lead Promo Team script meetings
Oversee Promo Team prop and prizing preparation
Attend Production meetings
Conduct sound checks and run-through of live entertainment elements (anthem singer, bands, color guards, etc.)
During Game
Assist Promo Team members during all live promotions
Facilitate communication between promo teams and Game Ops Manager and Coordinator
Prepare and cue live elements including timeout promotions, intermission contests, special recognitions/ceremonies, etc.
Prep contestants and special guests prior to live camera shots
Work with Guest Relations staff to ensure proper prizing distribution and troubleshoot issues that arise
Capture Promo Team content for social media use, primarily Instagram stories
Learning Objectives:
To manage an in-arena promotion team prior to and during an event
To create multiple scripts and apply them to real-time in-game execution
Internship Specifics:
Average of 15 intern hours available each week, based on game schedule
Internship timeline – August/September – End of the Season
Requirements:
Must be enrolled in a four-year college or university.
Must be extremely organized.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, often stressful live entertainment environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Hockey and Columbus Blue Jackets knowledge preferred, but not required.
