Position Summary
The Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Indiana University Northwest is a full-time, tenure-track, 10-month position with summer assignments and associated stipend in accordance with programmatic need. Core responsibilities include participating with and leading efforts to improve pedagogy and student success within foundational mathematics courses, conducting disciplinary research, teaching undergraduate students in face-to-face and asynchronous online modalities, teaching graduate students in the online programs, and participating in service activities. The Assistant Professor is responsible for a 12-credit-hour per semester teaching load at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate Mathematics curriculum with an expected productive program of research and scholarly publication supported by a 3-credit-hour reduction in teaching load. Active involvement in service to the department, campus, discipline, and the community is also expected. The Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science is comprised of eight full-time faculty members, whose principal research areas include Algebraic Semigroup Theory, Graph Theory, Mathematical Modeling in Medical Decision-Making, Mathematical Physics, Representation Theory, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
