GENERAL PURPOSE
The Plainfield Metropolitan Police Department is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Community Support Officer. The Community Support Officer is a non-sworn position that is responsible for serving as the Department's first contact with the public in many incidents and as a responder to requests for service. This position is responsible for non-emergency services such as lock-outs, vehicle inspections, property watches, fingerprinting, and traffic control. This is a part-time position that pays $15.00 per hour with no benefits. The position will average 15-20 hours per week.

HIRING PROCESS: From the date of the Written Examination to the starting date of the newly hired officer, it takes approximately two months to complete the process.
Written Examination - Applicants will be required to take the written exam at the Plainfield Police Department scheduled on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10:00a.m.

Applicants that are not selected or that do not pass any phase of the testing will have their applications kept on file for one year. If a new hiring process is started within that one year period, the applicant will be made aware of the new process and allowed to re-test, starting at Phase One. After the one year, applicants must update their application in order to be considered for future hiring processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal Appearance - Uniform and equipment have a professional appearance that requires appropriate personal hygiene and grooming.
Preparation For Duty - Before each shift, check prior shift activity reports, the departmental mailbox, and restock any forms for paper work as needed. Pass on vital information to others. These tasks should be accomplished diligently to not congregate on station.
Knowledge of all departmental forms used in the course of day-to-day activity.
Personal Conduct - Display conduct on and off duty that holds a positive and professional image within the department and the community.

Maintain efficient operation of departmental vehicles, communication systems, and other assigned equipment.
Vacation home checks
Traffic control assistance
Maintain all requirements for training within the department and any outside training required.
Complete regularly assigned duties with a minimal amount of direct supervision.
Maintain good public relations with citizens and community agencies.
Adhere to the rules and regulations of the Plainfield Police Department.
Gather information and provide written reports that are easy to read, concise, factual, neatly prepared and turned in on time.
Other Duties - The Community Service Officer is to serve at the will of the Chief of Police to oversee and assure completion of any and all projects and assignments designated by the Chief of Police.
