What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3+ years of payroll accounting experience in a large corporate environment, with expertise in Workday/PeopleSoft or cloud-based payroll systems
Advanced analytical abilities
Knowledgeable of accounting and financial regulations
Expertise in account reconciliation
Comprehensive understanding of payroll processes, labor laws, taxation, and compliance is essential
Strong communication and leadership skills are critical for effective team management
Strong organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy
High attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations in a professional manner
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

Job overview and responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to oversee post-payroll processing functions, ensuring cross-functional process integrity and compliance across Payroll and key stakeholder groups such as Treasury, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Corporate Accounting. The role involves collaborating with divisions to resolve payroll issues and enforce policy compliance, leading a team to ensure accurate and timely payroll reporting for United’s U.S. domestic employees, supporting audit compliance, and assisting the Senior Manager with research and review of accounting and employee pay matters.
Lead post-payroll reconciliation processes to ensure accurate, high-quality, and timely payroll management
Oversee Banking, Settlement, and Funding functions, ensuring accurate processing of check payments, reversals, and wire inquiries in collaboration with Payroll Operations, Employees, Treasury and Cash Accounting
Manage Payroll System Accounting, including maintaining payroll posting rules and collaborating on GL validation and posting
Work with Payroll IT and Financial Reporting on resolving errors or any posting issues that arise
Supervise daily processing workloads, proactively identifying risks and resolving issues
Support the Senior Manager in performance management and development of onshore and offshore payroll and accounting teams
Ensure compliance with Workday/PeopleSoft Payroll policies, corporate accounting standards, and internal/external audit requirements through data audits, reconciliations, and workflow adherence
Assist the Senior Manager with research, data requests, ad-hoc inquiries, and projects related to transformation and efficiency initiatives
Please Note\: This is a Houston-based, hybrid role with an apx. 50-75% in office requirement.
