To provide administrative support to the Engineering Services section. This is accomplished by assisting and making assessments of public improvement processes, assisting in the water and sewer permitting process, assisting in the preparation of policies and processes for new water and sewer connections. Other duties include entering data in the MUNIS system.
Duties/Responsibilities
Oversees water and sewer permitting processes by reviewing plans to determine the measurements of proposed utilities; verifying permit types required for each project; communicating with engineers to explain procedures, resolve discrepancies, and request revisions to plans and applications; keying, scanning, preparing, and distributing permitted plans; ensuring flow calculations are accurate for each wastewater treatment facility; and processing inspection and frontage fees.
Assists in public water, sewer, street, and sidewalk improvement process by determining the usefulness of each improvement based on city policies, nearby developments, and topographical information; determining assessable cost of improvements, pay periods, and interest rates; preparing documentation for city council regarding improvements; maintaining project files; corresponding with citizens; and performing routine support in the assessment billing system.
Assists in preparation of software requirements by writing, reviewing, and implementing new policies or procedures and providing input on procedures and documentation requirements for software and department processes.
Oversees application processes for new water and sewer connections by reviewing daily connection applications for accuracy and processing time payment applications for connection fees.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or directly related field OR equivalent experience.
Two years of professional experience with plat, property, and deed research .
Additional Preferred Skills
MUNIS (or equivalent) database accounting application system.
Cash Handling.
Municipal water and sewer permitting processes.
Assessment process for public improvements, such as water, sewer, streets, and sidewalks.
Policies and procedures related to water and sewer connections.
Supervising technical personnel.
