Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team shortly North of Portland Maine. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing key financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the organization's mission by maintaining accurate financial records. This position plays a vital role in supporting financial sustainability and providing critical insights for decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established standards.

• Generate financial reports tailored for donors, grantors, and other key stakeholders.

• Analyze financial data to identify trends, prepare variance reports, and provide actionable insights.

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries are accurate and properly documented.

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule.

• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions with precision, while monitoring outstanding receivables and ensuring timely payments.

• Collaborate on the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, while monitoring variances and addressing significant discrepancies.

• Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and assist with both internal and external audits.

• Track and manage restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring grant compliance and preparing related financial reports.

• Contribute to special projects and continuously seek opportunities to enhance the efficiency of financial processes.• Proven experience in preparing financial statements, reports, and analysis.

• Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance, including journal entries and reconciliations.

• Proficiency in processing accounts payable and receivable transactions.

• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and audit preparation.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting software.

• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
