Position Summary
The Department Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an assigned production department to ensure efficient workflow, consistent quality, and adherence to safety and organizational standards. This role requires strong leadership and coordination skills to manage personnel, ensure timely completion of production schedules, and maintain accurate documentation. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, team leadership, and a proactive approach to maintaining a productive, safe, and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day production activities and provide direction to team members to ensure department goals are met.
Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are available and prepared for scheduled jobs.
Monitor workflow and resolve any bottlenecks, material shortages, or equipment issues.
Complete and submit daily production reports, shift logs, and performance data.
Enter required data into internal systems accurately and timely.
Review, verify, and approve documentation related to production, quality, and safety.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and SOPs.
Enforce daily housekeeping tasks to maintain clean and organized workstations.
Train and support team members on procedures, safety, and operational tasks.
Collaborate with supervisors and other department leads to ensure smooth transitions between shifts and departments.
Support inventory control efforts by reporting usage and needs of materials and supplies.
Ensure adherence to company policies and safety regulations at all times.
Other duties as assigned.

Meet the Qualified Job Rate in training as determined by the department supervisor.
Working knowledge of production procedures in a manufacturing environment.
Indoctrination and full understanding of NRP’s Quality Manual and departmental responsibilities.
Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
Ability to lead by example with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Proficient in basic computer operations and data entry.
Strong literacy and comprehension abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation:
$21.00+ an hr. (DOE)
Education and Training Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of company indoctrination/orientation program.
Successful completion of safety training programs.
Working knowledge of the company’s Quality System, SOPs, and documentation practices.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for the majority of an 8–12 hour shift.
Regularly required to lift and handle up to 50 lbs.
Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
Use of hands and arms for handling materials, operating machinery, and performing tasks requiring dexterity.
Visual acuity required for reading specifications, inspecting materials, and documenting reports.
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial machinery, noise, temperature variations, and rubber materials.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection is required.
