Job Description

The Director - Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes across the organization. This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer. This position involves leading a team of finance professionals and working closely with senior leadership to monitor, evaluate, and provide actionable insights into Appcast’s financial performance. This role encompasses the development and implementation of financial models, forecasting, and reporting processes, driving strategic business decisions, and continuously improving financial operations.

Job Responsibilities

Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, working collaboratively across departments to integrate financial insights into key decisions. Provide long-term financial budgeting and forecasting support throughout all areas of the business to ensure that financials align with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.

FP&A core responsibilities include overall corporate modelling, management reporting and finance business partnership with sales, customer team, new product introductions and strategy.

Lead the implementation and optimization of budgeting, forecasting & management reporting systems and tools, incorporating automation to streamline processes and enhance reporting. Constantly evaluate and upgrade tools to support efficient financial operations.

Build reliable, predictive financial models, performing scenario planning and sensitivity analyses to forecast future financial results and business outcomes under various market conditions.

Oversee the preparation of rolling forecasts, monthly financial performance reviews, and variance analysis. Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior management based on analysis of actual vs. budgeted results. Analyses will include key business insights and performance drivers, providing recommendations / actional insights to managements with decision-making and assessments and assisting business partners in identifying opportunities and risks.

Responsible for FP&A support with Appcast’s sales and customer teams, ensuring all forecasting, sales compensation and reporting are aligned with go to market and customer growth strategies.

Collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams within both Appcast and other Stepstone entities/group functions on a regular basis, ensuring alignment and/or identifying gaps (with business drivers) between financial results and forecasting models.

Identify opportunities to optimize cost structure and provide recommendations to improve margins. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-efficiency initiatives and improve operational efficiency.

Identify financial risks, perform risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure long-term financial stability. Benchmark financial performance against industry standards and competitors.

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual corporate reporting packages for executive leadership and the Board of Directors as well as external stakeholders.

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team. Foster a collaborative environment and ensure the continuous professional growth of all team members.

Leverage data to provide business insights that guide decision-making. Develop and track KPIs and key metrics across functional areas to support performance optimization.

Communicate financial results and forecasts effectively to senior leadership, board members, and external stakeholders, including during earnings calls and investor relations activities.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and financial policies.

Advise on process improvements to strengthen financial governance.

Processing and responding to ad hoc inquiries and working with internal and external contacts

Qualifications

Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis expertise.

Expertise in cost management, risk analysis, and strategic business decision support.

Proficiency in financial modeling, advanced Excel, and financial software (e.g., ERP systems, BI tools). Familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proven track record of interpreting complex financial data.

Exceptional communication and presentation skills; capable of conveying financial insights to both financial and non-financial audiences.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to drive continuous process improvements.

Proven ability to lead and develop a team, driving collaboration and achieving results.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA preferred).

8+ years of FP&A experience, plus at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Proven leadership ability, with a track record of developing and mentoring high-performing teams.

Travel Requirements

Travel for this position will include regular travel to attend internal and external meetings, however, this may vary based on business needs and opportunities.
