NURSING SUPERVISOR (Weekends Day Shift)
General Purpose:
Provides and oversees residents who live in Judson’s skilled, assisted living, or independent living to assure the maximum health and wellness, autonomy, and quality of living for them is restored or maintained. Provides supervision and guidance to associates providing direct care services to these residents. Serves as a liaison between the associates, medical personnel and families with regard to resident needs. Ensures that staffing meets the levels of care established for residents and may provide direct care services to residents to support or provide intermittent coverage for staffing. Ensures associates maintain the standards of practice consistent with resident care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice duties:
Conducts clinical rounds on a daily basis. Assesses health status of each resident by interviewing nurse/resident.
Provides/coordinates direct resident care including resident care plan review, resident assessment, medication review and administration, and monitoring physician order changes
Provides close monitoring of care of at risk/medically unstable residents, including physical assessment, coordinates/monitors assistive devices/fall risk devices and restraints, follows-up on labs ordered and pending, and reviews physician order follow through
Assesses/addresses family issues
Coordinates admissions including medical history, physician orders, ensures all admission paperwork is completed, evaluates resident adjustments and addresses any resident/family concerns
Coordinates discharges, including that resident is discharged with all necessary paperwork/equipment, medications and personnel belongings
Coordinates transfers within Judson Park and from other campuses.
Monitors documentation of staff to ensure timely and comprehensive entries.
Ensures that resident nutritional needs are meet through auditing resident dining rooms and observing staff assistance with feeding.
Directs/provides assistance in all emergency situations
Responds to and provides nursing care to residents/staff/visitors in all areas of campus
Serves as consultant with nursing, technical and professional matters with all employees
Supervisory Duties:
Provides oversight of the schedule for the shift including work assignments, managing call-offs, and insuring that each unit is staffed according to guidelines.
Monitors/assists agency staff to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care to residents and orients them using agency personnel orientation policy
Ensures that all staff on duty are conducting themselves in a professional manner
Promotes collaborative teamwork among the staff
Directs and assists in the orientation of newly hired nursing personnel
Ensures that staff attend mandatory in-service programs
Collaborates with DON/VP Health Services to identify staff education needs and participates as necessary in the planning and implementation of educational programs to meet those needs
Serves as a role model for quality nursing care and informally teaches nursing staff on an ongoing basis
Attends all required educational and in-service programs
In collaboration with RCM, conducts performance appraisals, coaching, and necessary discipline of nursing personnel.
Risk Management Duties:
Investigates all risk events including, but not limited to:
Interviews residents, family and staff to ascertain cause of risk event
Ensures all documentation is complete including risk events forms, supervisor’s form, care plan and TX orders
Ensures physician and family are notified
Assists staff with interventions needed, including resident physical assessment, transfer arrangements, and plan of care changes
Ensures that interventions are initiated immediately
Ensures that interventions are documented in resident chart and care plan
Initiates injury of unknown origin investigation, including interviewing all staff and documenting on form
Investigates employee risk events, including obtaining urine specimen, notifying lab for pick up, and counseling employee regarding seeking medical attention if necessary

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications:
Required Qualifications:
Must possess a current Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license with (3) three years nursing experience and one year supervisory or charge nurse experience. Geriatric experience is preferred. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license. Other necessary skills include:
Proven record of reliability, dependability, accuracy and attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Good assessment, analytical and problem-solving skills
Must have an understanding and acceptance of the philosophy of care of Judson Services Inc.
Managerial experience regarding hiring, discipline, performance appraisals, is helpful.
Proficiency on windows-based computer word processing and spreadsheet software is necessary
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
Requires good vision, hearing, speech and communication skills with the ability to ambulate, project voice, use the telephone, use the computer and read and write English. In addition, the employee must be able to stand on her/his feet for a period of up to eight (8) hours a day, move around the home without difficulty, transfer a 150-pound person and squat on the floor and rise to standing.
