Engineering Controls Certification Specialist
HunaTek is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Controls Certification Specialist with specific experience in Work Protection- Hood Certification, to join our team in support of the Department of the Army, Combat Capabilities Development Command, Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC).
Essential Job Functions:
The Engineering Controls Certification Specialist is responsible for promoting worksite or product safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws. The Engineering Controls Certification Specialist is responsible for conducting approximately 800 annual safety and industrial hygiene evaluations, focusing on surety and chemical laboratory hoods and glove boxes. These evaluations include exposure assessments, and certification of equipment.
Performs trend analysis to identify opportunities for operational improvement in handling nuclear, biological, and chemical materials.
Monitoring and analyzing the performance of government test equipment, diagnosing failures, evaluating out-of-tolerance ventilation systems, and recommending necessary upgrades to enhance efficiency. All findings, including the number and type of evaluations, are documented and reported monthly.
Inspecting facilities and programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Advising in the area of engineering controls.
Writing and updating environmental reports, permits, and regulations.
Collaborating with scientists, planners and experts in law and business to address any issues.
Providing guidance in the development of regulations, standards, or policies related to environmental control.
Understanding and following federal, state, and local environmental laws.
Skills and Qualifications Required
US Citizenship.
Active Secret Security Clearance.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be detail oriented and organized.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
A complete understanding of Hazardous Work Protection and Hoods.
Technical Degree above a high school diploma (Trade or Associates).
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the field of Engineering Controls Certification.
