Position: Pathologists Assistant

Location: Columbus, OH 43214

Shift Timing: 8 Hours Day

Hours per day: 8

Hours per week: 40

(13 Weeks) Contract with possible Extension

Pay Rate: $3200/Weekly to $3500/Weekly

We are looking for a highly capable Pathologists' Assistant (PA)/ Pathology Technician works under the supervision of a licensed pathologist to provide essential support in the preparation and examination of surgical specimens and autopsies. This role is critical in ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality diagnostic outcomes within clinical laboratories, hospitals, or academic medical centers.

Responsibilities:

Gross Examination: Perform detailed gross description and dissection of surgical pathology specimens, including complex cancer resections.

Autopsy Services: Assist in postmortem examinations, including external examination, evisceration, organ dissection, and preparation of autopsy reports.

Specimen Management: Accurately label, photograph, and document specimens; ensure proper handling and preservation for histologic processing.

Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards in specimen handling and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (CAP, CLIA, JCAHO).

Data Entry & Reporting: Enter findings into laboratory information systems; prepare preliminary documentation for review by the pathologist.

Laboratory Safety & Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols and infection control procedures; ensure adherence to institutional and regulatory policies.

Training & Supervision: Train residents, fellows, and laboratory staff in grossing techniques and laboratory procedures when necessary.

Communication: Collaborate closely with pathologists, surgeons, and laboratory personnel to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis.

Documents Required:

Graduate of Accredited Anatomic Pathologist Assistant program

Experience Required - 1-2yrs of grossing experience

ASCP certification

Fully covid vaccinated - Preferred
