The North Carolina Outward Bound School is seeking a energetic, organized and charismatic Logistic Coordinators for our 100+ course organization. The Logistics Coordinator will work work within our Program Department living at one of our 2 mountains basecamps to support our courses and facilitate our unique basecamp culture

Organizational Summary:
Since 1967, North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) has delivered challenging wilderness adventures that teach
more than outdoor skills. Our wilderness courses, from the mountains of North Carolina to the shores of south Florida to
the peaks of South America, deliver on our mission "to change lives through challenge and discovery."
Essential Functions:
• Supports the delivery of the Outward Bound mission and educational framework.
• Creates and upholds facilities organization, efficient operation, and cleanliness.
• Handles all logistical details, preparations, and support for several courses in the field at once.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinates the issue, de-issue, and maintenance of the field-based equipment. Includes clean up, repair,
laundry, and inventory.
• Prepares and delivers field-based resupplies for staff and students while on course.
• Picks up and transports crews between locations in the beginning, middle, and end of course.
• Assists the Facilities Manager with weekly vehicle checks, maintenance, and communication regarding necessary
repairs. Participates in the logistics coordinator on-call system and responds to field emergencies.
• Demonstrates the ability to behave as a role model for students.
• Manages a range of student behaviors in a positive manner.
• Adheres to all local operating procedures, safety policies, and emergency procedures outlined in the Field Staff
Manual and Employee Handbook.
• Provides clear, effective, and timely communication with Instructors, Course Directors, and other staff.
• Consistently strives to openly share and receive feedback with/from co-workers and supervisors.
• Articulates and role models Outward Bound's mission, history, and values.

Working Conditions:
• Base camps are 40 minutes - 1 hour from the nearest town and embody a community living environment.
• Staff cabins are rustic but comfortable; laundry, showers, internet, a group kitchen, and recreational spaces are
all available at the base camps.
• Daily meals are provided when working. Lunch and dinner are made each day by the Kitchen Manager. While all
food is provided, staff are expected to make their own breakfast.
Qualifications:
• Minimum age - 21 years old.
• Personal and professional values consistent with the NCOBS mission, values, and principles.
• Valid Driver's License held for a minimum of three years with a clean driving record/background check.
• Solid organizational skills.
• Strong personal initiative, motivation, and resourcefulness.
• Cooperative, positive attitude, and ability to be flexible.
• Able to drive program vehicles on steep, rugged roads. (15-passenger vans with trailers)
• Able to participate in all base activities. Able to lift 60 pounds.
• Able to give and receive timely, effective oral and written feedback.
• Experience with SharePoint, Teams and Microsoft 365 preferred.
• Current First Aid and CPR. WFR preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Starting pay is $100/day
• Room and board during the length of the agreement
• Eligible for pro-deal purchasing program.
• Ability to attend professional development trainings for rock climbing and white-water canoeing at no cost.
• Valuable experience and understanding of the organization that can help one transition into an instructor role in
subsequent years.
• Base camps with expansive recreational opportunities nearby (Linville Gorge, Pisgah NF).
