Job Summary/ Key Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Export Traffic Reefer Clerk manages data for international shipments for a specific type of equipment called temperature-controlled units (reefers container) and provides support for many steps of the transportation process. The Export Traffic Reefer Clerk works with direct clients, freight forwarders and NVOCC. The Export Traffic Reefer Clerk helps in executing all the steps required to process the reservation of an export shipment. Considering the complexity of the type of unit managed and the specific needs and special handling required this is an advance clerk position that requires special training.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares the booking in our internal system based on client’s requests and needs.
Assumes documentary and customer service responsibilities for all assigned shipments.
Acts as an intermediary between clients and other MSC’s departments.
Ensures a monitoring process of the bookings in order that client’s requests are matched.
Coordinates with equipment department, terminal stevedores, vessel operations, to ensure that the equipment needed by the client is properly prepared and available at time of shipping/loading.
Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with clients.
Assists clients in trouble shooting and problem solving regarding the bookings assigned.
Keeps a good level of communication with clients and other parties matching the guidelines of the company.
Escalates unique or complex issues to the appropriate supervisor for immediate resolution.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS
Required skills, experience, education
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in a similar role (supply chain, transportation, shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, customer service, etc.)
English: advanced
Strong attention to details
Organized, efficient, and able to manage time effectively
Strong customer service mindset, focused, and responsive
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Great team player
Knowledge of MS Excel with the ability to learn new software
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
