Assistant Clinical Professor of Social Work / MSW Director of Practice Education

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary: Colorado Mesa University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month clinical position. This position is for an Assistant Clinical Professor of Social Work/ MSW Director of Practice Education.

Colorado Mesa University is in the accreditation process with CSWE and is looking for strong leaders in social work to assist with the development of practice education to ensure compliance with CSWE accreditation standards. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; however, due to this leadership role, this position will have a 50% load reduction per semester. The faculty member is expected to share in program activities, including but not limited to assisting with initial accreditation/benchmark III of accreditation, curriculum assessment, and student recruitment/admissions. As Director of Practice Education for the MSW program, this position will also require student supervision, professional service, and teaching.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned). This position will:

Provide leadership, direction, and management of practice education, which encompasses:

Vetting, approving, and oversight of practicum/internship agencies and supervisors;

Placement of students in agencies;

Supervision and support to practice education faculty; and

Supervision of students.

Ensure accessibility to education manuals, policies, orientations, and assessment tools for agency supervisors and students.

Maintain standards and policies to remain in compliance with CSWE accreditation standards.

Demonstrate the ability to teach in person, both Socratic and Didactic. The standard teaching load for this position is three credits per semester in core and/or elective social work courses. The individual in this position will have the option to teach up to nine credit hours per year.

Provide oversight to student supervision at CMU.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

MSW from a CSWE-accredited program

At least two years of post-MSW practice experience

Experience teaching in higher education

Experience in a leadership role

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Social Work or a DSW

Previous experience with CSWE Accreditation

Experience as a Director of Practice Education or Practice Education Liaison

Five years of clinical experience and practice in social work

Current LCSW, LICSW, or independent licensure within Social Work

Professional and/or Academic Advising experience
