Description
The Machinist is responsible for the set-up, layout, programming and operation of mostly milling machines. The machines used are Haas, Portomag, and Fadal and they run off Fusion programming. They will be expected to run precision parts made to order per customer for different industries such as, Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Military, and Energy. The parts vary in materials depending on industry and can range from plastics to a variety of metals.
BTI manufactures precision measurement and testing equipment. A lot of what they are machining will be parts for balancing machines. Everything they machine in house is under 30 inches. Some examples of what they make are: balancers, crack detection systems, dimensional gages, and surface measurement systems.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Fitting of all the parts, tools, and machines in support of the machining process
- Layout work from blueprints, sketches, and written instructions
- Load correct programs to the machine and use G&M codes
- Move controls to set cutting speeds and depths, feed rates, and position tools based on the work sketches. Setting GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- Set proper holding pressure on vises and collets
- Operate Mill turning machine and perform tool changes as the work in being run
- Select and properly load the correct fixtures for the job
- Monitor speeds and feeds for the machine
- Make modifications and move the machine tool according to instructions through a toolpath
- Cut away excess material to leave only the finished product
1st shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm (currently) -- As workload increases it could be 7:00am-4:30pm or 6:00am-4:30pm.
Pay: $28-$33/hr
- Need to be able to bring their own tools (have limited in house tools that can be used)
- Need steel toes

MUST HAVE:
1. 1 year of experience running a manual milling machine
a. This candidate will be required to run milling machines daily, some of which are manual.
2. This candidate must have a strong knowledge of G&M codes, GD&T symbols, and blueprint reading
a. Will be expected to come in with this knowledge so they can hit the ground running.
3. Programming experience
a. Need to be able to independently program. Fusion would be preferred but will accept other programming experience such as SURFCAM, EDGECAM, Mastercam, or Gibbscam.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $33.00/hr.
