SUMMARY
The Process Engineer is responsible for improving the quality, efficiency, yield, and operating ratio of TTR coating processes in a 24/7 manufacturing operation. Under the Senior Coating Manager, the Process Engineer will lead the operations group efforts in testing and qualification of new products and processes, improving existing performance and reducing losses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Evaluate production processes by designing and conducting testing programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors and solicits information from operators.
Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities.
Provide training, guidance, and engineering support to operations team production
Verifying production data
Maintain production parameter database to determine process control limits
Provide monthly feedback to management staff on coating quality and efficiency
Develop process improvement plans based on data analysis
Resolving quality issues during production
Perform shift walk through report
Identify and correct potential safety concerns
Perform product changeovers to the coating machine. Activities not limited to roll exchanges, roll cleaning, doctor blade exchanges, threading, filter changes, parts cleaning, and material handling.
Troubleshoot equipment
Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards and maximizing productivity of machinery and staff.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may have to fill in for a supervisor if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
2 years’ experience in a multi-shift manufacturing facility preferred.
Ability to develop designs and create engineering drawings using CAD software.
Knowledge of engineering principles, cost analysis, and experience in repairing & troubleshooting equipment.
Experience using lean manufacturing, root cause analysis and problem-solving tools in order to solve problems.
Experience generating and implementing ISO procedures.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and NEC preferred.
Experience in Web Converting, Paper/Pulp Converting, or similar high speed, rotating equipment environment preferred.
Must be capable of working flexible hours to accommodate 24/7 manufacturing operations, including weekends, and on-call requirements
Demonstrated knowledge of and a proficient ability to work in all areas of the coating and mixing progress
Experience in mixing/blending chemicals preferred
Demonstrated mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude
Must be able to multitask, prioritize, and work in a high-stress team environment
The ability to read and interpret job orders, specifications, and production schedules.
Must be able to enter data into computerized ERP system and manual work orders.
The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for 12-hour shifts. The employee is frequently required to walk, bend, reach and twist. The employee must occasionally operate a fork truck. The employee must occasionally climb and squat. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. The employee must occasionally push/pull carts of approximately 1,000 pounds. The employee must occasionally work in confined spaces. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to wear respiratory protection as needed near solvents. A Hazmat physical is required for this position.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Due to the nature of the work performed in this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses, safety gloves when needed, hearing protection, coveralls, respiratory protection and ANSII approved steel or composite toed footwear. A Hazmat physical is required for this position.
The hiring range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
