Job Title: Rail Operator
Job Description
The Rail Operator is responsible for ensuring personal safety and a clear understanding of safety processes and procedures related to chemical material movement. This role involves a basic understanding of shuttle wagon operations, as well as experience in pump and blower operation. The Rail Operator is tasked with receiving and shipping all raw materials transported by rail and unloading them to the appropriate storage silos. The position requires operating a shuttle wagon and unloading equipment for raw materials, both liquid and powder, using mechanical pumps and blowers. Basic maintenance knowledge, such as cleaning filters and troubleshooting shuttle wagon failures, is necessary. The role may also involve assisting other plant sections as needed.
Responsibilities
Ensure personal safety and follow safety procedures for all operations.
Operate shuttle wagon and unloading equipment for raw materials.
Analyze problems or deviations and ensure timely corrective actions.
Unload raw materials to appropriate storage silos.
Maintain and clean filters to ensure good flow and unloading speed.
Keep rail unloading work area clean and free from debris.
Coordinate with resin lead/filter cleaning agency for filter readiness.
Handle end-to-end waste management within the shift.
Write shift reports and communicate abnormalities during shifts.
Assist other plant sections when not engaged in rail-specific tasks.
Read and understand work instructions in the work group area.
Submit samples for quality checks before unloading rail cars.
Reject rail cars that fail quality control checks.
Prevent contamination of raw materials during shipping and unloading.
Maintain proper housekeeping of the rail yard and work area based on 5S principles.
Keep a log of all received, unloaded, and shipped rail cars.Essential Skills
Experience in chemical safety and chemical testing.
Knowledge of shuttle wagon, pump, and blower operations.
Ability to operate heavy equipment and perform manual labor.
Strong communication and writing skills.
Understanding of inventory management.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in construction trades and outdoor work.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform various physical tasks such as bending, twisting, and stooping.

Work Environment
This role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including bending, twisting, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs. The work environment involves outdoor work and heavy equipment operation, with shifts covering up to 12 hours.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Decatur, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $41600.00/yr.
Additional benefits such as team life, STD, LDT and identity theft covered 100%.
