Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating manual punch presses to manufacture metal switches according to blueprints, ensuring precision and quality in every piece produced.
Responsibilities
Position specified punch and die set and turn pressure screws to lock them into the ram and bed of the machine to set up the punching section.
Position specified cutting blades into the cutting slot, and notching dies or shear blades into the ram and bed of the machine, and turn pressure or clamp screws to lock them in place to set up cutoff, trimming, and notching sections of the machine.
Measure workpieces or trace from templates to locate holes or cutting lines as specified by the work order and mark them.
Pull lever to engage power to the section used.
Position workpieces into cutting slots, or under punch, die, or trim blade, and align punch or blade with layout marks.
Pull lever or depress pedal to activate the machine.
Set stops or position guide jigs to specified points on the built-in scale when several pieces are worked.
Tend different sections of the machine.
Operate manual punch presses and learn to read blueprints for bending metal to fit requirements.Essential Skills
Previous machine operation, metal shop, or relevant manufacturing experience.
Ability to read a tape measure.
Basic math skills.
Mechanically inclined.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with small motors, lawn mowers, and general production.
Skill in machine operation, punch press, press brake, metal fabrication, and shop helper roles.
Ability to communicate effectively and be team-oriented.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment is industrial, often dirty, with temperature changes based on outside conditions. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise levels. Suitable attire includes warm clothes in winter and cooler clothes in summer. This role is ideal for someone with a shop environment experience.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of FOREST GROVE, Oregon.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
