JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Resident Engineer / Coordinator
The Resident Engineer is Responsible for leading all activities for products at the customer location while leading communication concerning product issues at customer plant. The Resident Engineer moves about the production facility, interfacing with the assembly line and the customer supplier quality organization. In addition, the resident engineer will lead a team of Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Technicians to ensure customer containment and rework are delivered on time and meets the quality standards of the customer. This position is on-site at the customer's location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support product launches
Share and escalate problems, informal problem solving and communication of issues to supplier plants
Communicate 24 Hours Report, prepare test plans and reports (capability studies, qualification, and validation) for assigned improvement activities; provide key technical assistance to manufacturing on writing and executing test approvals and final reports
Provide early risk detection of issues at the customer's location, scrap inventory, repairs and reinspect defective parts as required
Monitor and manage third parties or Formel D staff for containments of automotive parts, ensuring that only approved components will be sent to the OEM customer for vehicle assembly
Report the status of corrective actions and monitors effectiveness
Attends customer meetings and product reviews
Assure resolution of all issues raised during testing; provide recommendations for possible solutions
Work with product and supplier engineers on establishing quality criteria for new projects
Support project start-ups to implement customer requirements in regards to timing, work instructions, quality control, and risk assessments. This will include building and developing teams to ensure customer standards are met.
Assist in the development and support of assembly floor quality systems; provide guidance and support for quality systems used on the assembly floor
Review changes to current production to aid in the improvement of processes, product design or material problems, as appropriate
Work with internal partners on process and continuous improvement efforts providing technical support and direction; drive key objective results Qualification/Requirement:
Ability to speak Spanish and English fluently in a business/technical setting
Eight (8) to ten (10) years' experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably in interior components
Ability to self-manage and self-direct activities
Authorization to legally work in the US for the next three years
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts into practical solutions; aptitude for conflict resolution, negotiation and creating positive outcomes
Creative and persistent problem solver; excellent analytical and thinking skills with a highly refined work ethic who is able to work independently or as part of a team
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills with the flexibility and adaptability to relate to and collaborate with people at all levels of organization and work well with a diverse employee group
Be flexible and able to function without rigid organizational boundaries Experience/Education:
Automotive seating experience strongly preferred
Two-to-four-year technical degree strongly preferred. Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a minimum of 4 years related experience, required. Environmental Requirements:
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty pounds
Must be able to work at heights up to 20-25 feet
Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours
