Tooling Technician II

Job Description

Position purpose/core responsibilities

Maintains and repairs tools, provides Molding department with tools in correct configurations for production, maintains tooling records and inventory, performs preventative maintenance on tools and updates logs.

Main Duties

· Maintain Preventative Maintenance program, perform tool maintenance and repair activities.

· Maintain high standards for safety and housekeeping.

· Disassembly and reassemble tools after repair or modification. Palletize and ship tools.

· Maintain tool database, audit tool locations. Respond to internal and external requests for inventory information.

· Works with Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and the molding department to ensure optimum level of manufacturing.

· Knowledge of thermocouples, limit switches, hot runners, basic machining

· Documents and maintain records of maintenance, repair and changes of all tooling.

Qualification Guidelines

· Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)

Physical requirements

· Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.

· Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur.

· Must be able to lift 80-100 lbs occasionally.

· Must be able to operate powered and nonpowered hand tools.

Skill, training, or educational requirements

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Prefer completion of toolmaker / mold maker apprenticeship program.

· Experience: 5-10 years of experience in a tool room. Must have working knowledge of plastic injection molding industry.

· Strong commitment to quality, productivity and team performance in the workplace

· Excellent teamwork, organizational and communication skills

· Proficiency in spoken and written English language

· Machinist experience preferred.

· Welding experience preferred.

· Basic computer skills.

· Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
