Staff Design Enablement Engineer

LA Semiconductor is currently seeking a Design Enablement Engineer to help facilitate customer designs in LA Semiconductor processes. The successful candidate will help develop Process Design Kits (PDKs) and automation tools to make the customer design process smoother. As a Design Enablement Engineer, you will have a high level of contribution into setting up design methodologies for LAS. LA Semiconductor has an 8 Silicon fab in Pocatello, Idaho.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop PDKs for internal Silicon processes.

Build software and workflow tools to enable customer designs.

Use software to automate the design process using a first-time-right mentality.

Work with customers to understand their design challenges and propose solutions.

Work with Technology Development and Production teams to ensure designs are compatible with LAS technologies.

Help with test structure development and analysis.

Help design on-circuit ESD control elements appropriate for LAS processes.

Maintain Design Enablement software including PDKs, Pcells, LVS and others.

Document workflows and newly developed tools and how they fit into the design process.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong understanding of the semiconductor design process, including a broad understanding of different design methodologies.

Proficient with CAD software packages (Cadence preferred).

Strong technical knowledge in circuit design and EDA tools.

Software coding experience in Python or other scripting language.

Experience with design verification tools.

Strong technical knowledge in semiconductor device physics.

Strong collaboration skills; promotes good teamwork among internal and external resources.

Good communication and presentation skills.

Preferred:

Experience with ESD design elements.

Experience working with modelling teams.

Experience working with design teams.

Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes.

Education and Experience:

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or related field.

10 years of related experience, with at least 3+ years of design, library, or PDK experience.
