DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT AND WELL-BEING
The Director of Student Support and Well-Being is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Assistant Head of School (AHoS) for Educational Excellence (Ed. Ex.). The Director is primarily responsible for guiding the School's efforts to ensure a healthy (medically and socially-emotionally) and appropriately supportive learning environment where all students can flourish.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a member of the Central Administrative Team (CAT), the main clearinghouse for the administration and operation of the School and the Program Leadership Team, the main programmatic decision-making body.
Co-lead with the Director of Curricular Innovation and Design and the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion the School's professional development program for colleagues, including PD time, in-service days, the summer symposium, and colleague retreats.
Partner with the AHoS for Ed. Ex. and Division Heads to hire, evaluate, and supervise nurses, counselors, and academic support staff.
Partner with the AHoS for Ed. Ex. and Division Heads to oversee and support the SEED (Social Emotional and Ethical Development) program and curriculum.
Serve on admissions committees in all divisions.
Oversee regular review of students needing support and chair the "student support team" in each division.
Advise and support the school, including teachers, administrators, and student support specialists, in compliance with ADA requirements, student at-risk assessment, and Childline/Law enforcement protocols.
Maintain confidential student records, including but not limited to referrals to children and youth services, oversee data analysis of the student well-being screenings, and psychoeducational testing.
Partner with the Program Leadership Team to plan and implement training and informational sessions for parents/guardians around key issues related to student well-being.
Support the AHoS for Ed. Ex. and other school leaders in designing and implementing initiatives that promote colleague well-being.
And other related duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have...
Master's level training in school psychology, counseling, social work, or related field;
10 or more years of experience in an independent school or another school environment;
An interest in ongoing professional development and learning around Human Flourishing, Positive Education, and/or whole-school well-being;
Personal and professional commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging and the requisite skills to support critical conversations;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Enthusiasm to engage actively and visibly with the school community.
The ideal candidate will have...
The ability to conduct and interpret psychoeducational evaluations as a Certified School Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist;
Experience supervising and overseeing student support teams, including counseling, nursing, and academic support;
Training in Human Flourishing, Positive Education/Positive Psychology or whole-school well-being.
