Process Engineer - Vacuum Systems

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Process Engineer to join our team here at Viable Engineering Solutions. The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

Work with customers, engineers, and managers to identify and define problems at both the component and system level.

Generate and downselect process flow diagrams for given problems.

Generate or check process models, heat and mass balance calculations, P&IDs, process control narratives, etc.

Design and conduct laboratory-scale experiments to analyze and validate proposed processes.

Conduct or lead FEED studies and interdisciplinary design reviews.

Participate in HAZOP/HAZID studies.

Spec, select, and purchase process equipment and instrumentation, especially piping, pumps, condensers, control valves, fan/blowers, thermocouples, mass flow sensors, etc.

Install (or supervise the installation of) and troubleshoot process equipment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field required.

5+ years' relevant experience required.

Familiarity with both position pressure and vacuum steam systems.

Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including ASME pressure vessel and power piping codes, European PED, etc.

Familiarity with mathematical modeling tools, e.g. Excel, MATLAB, Python, MathCAD, Aspen plus, or Aspen HYSYS.

Experience commissioning plants and systems is required; experience operating process plans is preferred.
