POSITION SUMMARY
The Fitter is responsible for cutting and fitting pipe or structural materials for welders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers
Mark reference points onto floor or face block and transpose them to workpiece
Give directions to welder to build up low spots or short pieces with weld
Straighten warped or bent parts using sledge, hand torch, straightening press or bulldozer
Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torch
Examine blueprints and plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, weld shrinkage, machining and metal thickness
Tack weld fitted parts together
Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, bolt straps or bolt parts in position for welding
Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering and threading joints
Put all information on the pipe before cutting and transfer all item numbers onto cut sheet and carry over item numbers to drop pipe
Ensure all numbers are clear and point to the right material when fabricating spool sheets
Check measurements to assure they match with drawing and obtain approval from quality control department
Inspect, examine and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods
Plan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications
Read and understand blue prints and ISO’s
Obey and follow all safety rules and policies
Wear all appropriate safety equipment (PPE)
Perform all other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent education
1+ years of fitting experience in an industrial setting
Basic written and verbal skills
Must have the ability to perform work accurately
Must be reliable and have good time management skills
For new hires, must meet all Performance Energy Services employment qualifications in force at time of hiring, including successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
For new hires, must successfully complete all required training by Performance Energy Services
