Cybersecurity Engineer Job Description:
This position is for a Cybersecurity Engineering professional. Be part of the key Cyber engineering team that is building new security architectures across a large and critical DoD system of systems. Provide Cyber engineering expertise, while understanding architectural needs and finding cyber solutions that can fit that need. Lead the documentation and review process in new designs, providing a critical approach to design regarding STIGS.
Research new Cybersecurity capabilities, performing trade studies, and providing expertise to peers and leadership. Develop system documentation for information system authorization, security management, and continuous monitoring of both networked and standalone classified systems.
Cybersecurity Engineer Required Skills:
• Communicate with the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) authorities regarding security requirements and their implementation method.
• Identify technological and functional risks inherent in system functionality, system exposure, and data sensitivity to determine the required security controls.
• Perform security vulnerability assessments and develop solutions based on external assessments and findings for new system and architecture features and functions.
• Tailor and configure NIST security controls for specific product use, security assessment plan preparation, test procedure preparation, test execution and reporting.
• Provide guidance on architectural improvements for maturing security posture.
Cybersecurity Engineer Highly Desirable Skills:
· Knowledge of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
· Knowledge with Linux systems and large system development.
· Knowledge in PKI.
· Cloud experience such as Kubernetes and containers.
· Experience with devSecOps solutions.
· Experience using the Agile Methodology.
· Experience in scripting languages like Python.
· Basic knowledge of networking exposure with ability to understand packet captures.
· Effective oral and written communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Cybersecurity Engineer Additional Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related master’s degree.
· Must be able to obtain and keep a DoD Secret Clearance which means you must be a U.S. Citizen.
· Proactive/self-starter. Task driven with ability to work independently.
· Team player that takes ownership and develops relationships that fosters team success.
