We are seeking a motivated and experienced Automation Controls Engineer to join our Automation department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing automated systems infrastructure for unattended machine operation and automated processes for use in a high precision manufacturing environment. The Automation Controls Engineer will collaborate with other Acutec departments to advance automated systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Interface with IT/CI and Maintenance Departments to ensure necessary hardware and electrical components are integrated to standards
· Utilize software driven solutions for the advancement of automation
· Design equipment and electrical systems for robot monitoring and advanced unattended automation tracking
· Assist shop personnel in checking or troubleshooting systems as required
· Provide training to co-workers for appropriate use of these data collection systems
· Program automation equipment for integration into production
· Work with vendors to integrate advanced technology systems with data driven metrics
· Create solutions to enhance unattended running with total CNC monitoring systems
· Design and implement motion systems (linear motion, 7th axis, rotary actuation and/or additional motions)
Key Roles
· Create advanced electronic aided systems to aid in automated systems. Not limited to: Robot monitoring for efficiency metrics, electronic monitoring systems for CNC reliability, digital systems, inspection systems and other various electronic driven technology.
· Perform all aspects of technology integration, including but not limited to- programming of robots, system design, micro-processor driven componentry and advanced PLC programming (via cell controller).
· Interface with Automation, Engineering, IT and CI to create and implement systems utilizing the newest technology in the field.
· Create electrical and electronic systems to heighten the overall functionality of existing automated cells.

Education & Experience Requirements:
· This position requires 3-10 years of experience working with electrical components and machine control systems, or an equivalent combination of experience and technical education in fields related to automation or electrical system design.
· Certification or education in a related field (i.e. mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering) is preferred but not required.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
· Candidates must have strong computer skills and a broad understanding of automated systems.
· Candidates must have experience with software based solutions.
· Experience with, or a strong understanding of systems programming.
· The employee must be a team player, have the ability to integrate with multiple people in a cross-functional roll, be a self-starter, and be able to present progress and train co-workers on new technology.

No supervisory responsibilities; this role will require assisting with training and assisting employees.
