Description
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs a variety of complex technical clerical duties in the Human Resources office in support of the classified or certificated functions of the department. A high level of accuracy of work is required.
CURRENT VACANCY: One full-time position (12 mos/year, 8 hrs/day), with full benefits, in the Human Resources Department (Administration Center). The work hours are from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Position includes full district-paid benefits. Health and welfare district contribution is $39,790 annually. All GUSD jobs are local and in-person.

-In accordance with established procedures, policies, rules, and regulations, assists in a variety of responsible and complex functions.
-Checks a variety of forms related to employment and other personnel matters for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
-Communicates with the public, other agencies, employees, and administrators regarding policies, procedures, and other related inquiries.
-Assists with researching information in a variety of projects.
-Responds to questions from employees, applicants, and community members regarding matters related to Human Resources.
-Operates a computer, assigned software, and other modern office equipment.
-Assists in completing documents and data entry of various inquiries related to Human Resources.
-Performs a wide variety of clerical duties necessary to establish, maintain, and process personnel or payroll records and documents.
-Maintains security of sensitive personnel matters and confidential information; handles files and records with discretion.
-Assists in resolving personnel-related issues and concerns with discretion and confidentiality.
-Refers more complex and sensitive matters or complaints to the supervisor.
-Receives and documents messages and correspondence regarding a variety of matters including inquiries from the public, other agencies, employees, and administrators.
-May provide assistance in the preparation of materials related to the Human Resources department.
-Assists with compliance with all state and federal programs.
-Performs related duties as assigned.
Employment Standards
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
-Graduation from high school or equivalent GED, supplemented by college-level coursework in human resources, business administration, statistics, or a related field.
Experience:
-Two years of recent, responsible clerical or secretarial experience, preferably in a public agency human resources office.
-Any other combination of education, training, and/or experience which demonstrates that the applicant is likely to possess the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered.
Desirable Qualifications:
-Experience with computerized human resources database programs and applicant tracking systems is highly desirable.
-Experience in processing or reviewing documents for compliance with complex policies or procedures and contact with the public in explaining them in a human resource setting or similar environment.
-Written and oral proficiency in a second language.

Probationary period: 130 days of paid service.
Prior to employment, a candidate must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis. Also required after an offer of employment are a pre-employment physical exam (district-paid) and fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice.
