St. Bonaventure University invites applications for a tenure-track position in sports management at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, housed within the School of Business. St. Bonaventure University emphasizes teaching and is looking for candidates who are excited about being a part of our student learning-focused mission. Candidates must be committed to excellent teaching, engaging in research related to the business aspects of sport, working collegially with fellow faculty, and further, cultivate sports management partnerships. Candidate must be able to create sports management experiential learning opportunities for students in and out of the classroom. Candidates should possess expertise in two or more of the following areas; sport finance, sport economics, sport sales, sport marketing, international sport business, sport governance, sport leadership, E-sports, event/facilities management and/or other sport business related courses.
The candidate must be willing to teach in both on-line and in-person, undergraduate and graduate.
Examples of Duties
A. Teach graduate and undergraduate courses (12 credits each semester).
B. Serve as an advisor for undergraduate majors; and
C. Participate in service activities for the department, the division, the college, industry, and/or the community as needed.
Faculty are expected to engage in the following activities, where appropriate, as part of their normal services:
Teaching, including the preparation of course syllabi and classes, the preparation and grading of examinations, the supervision of laboratories and other practica, and the direction of theses, honor projects, and independent study work.
Research, publication, and professional activity within one's field of specialization or otherwise directed towards the University's mission.
Student advisement, with maintenance of reasonable and scheduled office hours.
Participation in activities (usually through committee work) designed to advance the mission and quality of the University, School, and Departmental programs. Assignments to routine committee work will be made in consideration of other demands placed on the faculty member by the University.
Attendance at Department, School, and general Faculty and University meetings including commencements, convocations, and other official University exercises.
Community work outside the University.
Typical Qualifications
Ph.D. or ABD with an emphasis in sports management from an AACSB-accredited program is required or a doctoral degree in sports management accredited by COSMA with research in the area of sports business.
Sports Industry experience is strongly desired but not required.
Must meet the AACSB academically qualified (scholarly academic) requirement
