About this Opportunity
Displays enthusiasm and provides good leadership for assigned activities. Teaches classes in a specific skill relating to cultural arts. Interacts with children and adults during activities.
Exercises independent judgment and authority for maintaining control and order.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teaches or helps teach a skill in a cultural arts activity;
Sets daily activities for cultural arts program;
Selects course content in conjunction with supervisor;
Maintains order and discipline with a group setting;
Provides supervisor with a list of needed supplies and materials;
Monitors patron use of materials and equipment to assure safety of all participants and staff;
Maintains equipment and insures equipment is properly stored at completion of class;
Prepares forms such as attendance sheets, follow-up reports and/or any correspondence for the assigned program;
Secures class evaluations at the end of class session;
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices;
Attends work regularly at the designated place and time;
Supports continuous process improvement initiatives;
Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of cultural arts programs (art/music);
Ability to effectively teach skills in cultural arts;
Ability to inspire interest and enthusiasm of students;
Ability to work with elementary age children and/or adults;
Ability to work cooperatively and to maintain effective working relationships to accomplish job responsibilities;
Ability to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology;
Ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.Acceptable Experience and Training:
Requires experience working with elementary age children and/or adults in group activities; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.Required Special Qualifications:
Valid U.S. Driver's License preferred.
Work Schedule
Recreation Program Leader- Average of 8-15 hours/week depending on program needs and availability; weeknight evenings and weekend mornings required.
